SMS Verification Guide for BEARWWW

If you created your BEARWWW account with an email and password, you will need to verify your account via SMS. Accounts created through a third-party login (e.g. Apple ID, Google login) do not need SMS verification.

SMS verification

If you are an existing user who created their account via email and password and have not yet verified via SMS, we may invite you to do so. Currently, there is no way to do proactive SMS verification before we ask you to do so. To verify your account, simply follow the SMS verification instructions on screen.

SMS verification is an important anti-spam measure, and we only use users' phone numbers for this purpose. There is no need to enter your country code as it should already be pre-populated. If you live in an area that has a specific area code, be sure to enter it before entering your phone number.

SMS not received

We confirm your phone number by sending a code via SMS. This means you must have a device capable of receiving SMS messages, such as a cell phone. We cannot check via landline, certain Internet/VoIP-based telephone services, or certain messaging applications. If your number is not compatible with SMS, you will need to use another number.

If you don't receive a verification code or get the "Invalid phone number" error message:

  • Make sure you enter the correct country code, area code, and phone number.
  • We maintain a 24 hour window so you can receive SMS verification from us.
  • If you still don't receive a code, your mobile carrier may automatically block it as potential spam. To prevent this, contact your mobile operator to ensure that “Message blocking” is disabled.
  • Sometimes there may be temporary connection issues while sending the SMS - if you don't receive a code or get an error message, it's worth trying again a few minutes later. Also make sure you have good reception on your phone and can currently receive SMS messages at the number provided.
  • If none of these troubleshooting tips work, or you get an "invalid phone number" error, your number may not be compatible with our SMS system and you may need to use another number.
  • We cannot bypass our SMS process and cannot manually verify a number for you. The only way to complete SMS verification is to use a valid number.

“Phone number used too many times” error message

  • Please wait 24 hours and try again.
  • You can only verify a maximum of 5 accounts per phone number. If you have already used your number for 5 accounts, you will need to delete one of the accounts and wait 24 hours to be able to use the number on a new account.

Code scam alerts

If you receive a code without requesting it It is likely that someone has entered the wrong number or entered yours by mistake. Usually, this error is quickly discovered and you will no longer receive text messages. If the texts repeat, we recommend blocking the number the verification messages are coming from so they stop. (You'll want to unlock later if you decide to use BEARWWW).

If someone asks you to send your code Never share your SMS code with anyone else. If you receive a message saying "I just sent you a code from BEARWWW, what is it?" » it's a scam! They try to use your number to verify their account. If this happens, please report the account from within the app immediately.

Note : We do not share your number with marketing companies and will not use it to send you texts or messages other than the unique SMS verification code.

If you would like to know what we do and do not share, please visit our Privacy Policy page for more information.
